I too have been here for 6 years, and watched the game change in many ways. Its course deviation in the past 2 years has been the subject of threads elsewhere.
However, there is only one way to make your voice heard in a method that carries weight.
Unsubscribe.
That's it. There is no other way. It's sad and depressing, and believe me when I say I can feel the same degree of sadness at the thought of leaving a game I've experience two Fanfests, countless wars, drunken roams, and late night mining ops/comedy hours for.
But it needs to me made crystal clear that:
This is a game.
This is a business.
And the only thing that matters to CCP at the end of the day is getting a paycheck and keeping people employed.
CCP convinces us to pay by providing a game that supplies enjoyment. We decide if it provides enjoyment worth our dollars.
We have been down this road many times before, with each new expansion. We whine and complain and threaten, and yet the subscriptions keep flowing in. How much weight can one expect to attach to a voice that continues to pay up, regardless of whats changed, month after month?
I do not want to see EVE die either, but I do not want to continue to torture myself (and my wallet) by sucking down changes and neglect that make me unhappy because I am too scared or nostalgic to let go.
We are gamers. We play games. For most of us, we play for fun. We play to relax and play to enjoy.
There are other communities and enjoyment to be had. Don't fight to cling to a idea that long left. Find fun somewhere. Find your enjoyment somewhere. Play something that brings you happiness, as opposed to something that only dreams it could.
Best of luck.
Disclaimer: This character is the last (6 month) active alt I have. My accounts were canceled after the release of Incursion. I decided when CCP implemented disincentives in order to get me to use their feature that I had seen the end. The recent initiatives have only seemed to confirm my decision.
Unsubscribing does nothing ultimately. The only thing it achieves is removing your ability to voice a justified complaint.
Er, no. Think you have that -backwards-... ironically. Plus, the guy you quoted is a genius, you idiot.
